No visit to The Schoolhouse is complete without stopping in at The General Store. The store is located in the old pole barn which was the original horse barn. It now gives visitors a place to visit while eating at the restaurant or a stop while traveling on the Little Miami Scenic Trail. It is stocked with antiques, collectibles, unique gifts, candy and knick knacks you won’t find anywhere else.
Adjacent to The General Store is the Barn Yard where we have various adopted goats and geese. It’s great entertainment for the kids and those young at heart! Getting some goat feed from The General Store has become a favorite activity for all that visit. The goats will thank you with a lick that will make you giggle, and a memory to take home.
There is a play yard with a tether ball and other games for those who want to play before of after meal. It’s on the way to see the animals, trail, or when you visit The General Store.
The Little Miami Scenic Trail runs behind The General Store and Barn Yard. It is the third longest paved trail in the United States and is 78.1 miles long and runs mostly along the banks of the Little Miami River. We are at mile marker 48.5 if you are looking for us along the trail. Parking is available next to the Barn Yard for those customers who would want to make The Schoolhouse their home base for a walk or bike ride.
The General Store is open the same hours as the restaurant. For more information contact Jeff Miller. 513-831-2247.
